Prague in Bloom Canvas Print

We like a cityscape best when it comes with a little abrasion. This Prague view doesn’t behave: pink and yellow houses stack up behind giant tulips, green spires push through, and gold fireworks go off over dark blue Gothic towers. Hung up, it does the job of a window in a room that hasn’t got one. The colour carries right across the wall and gives a plain sofa or a bare hallway something to answer to. Best above a sofa, along a hallway, or on a kitchen feature wall where you pass it often. Pair it with velvet, dark wood, glazed ceramics, plants and a deep painted wall. Don’t crowd it with other busy pictures; give it room and let it lead. As a canvas the edge-to-edge colour reads more like a painting on the wall.

With an illustrated cityscape, scale decides whether the living room wakes up. Go too small and all that colour turns into a smudge on the wall; go big and the room finds a proper focal point. Hung above a sofa or a sideboard it pulls pink, blue and deep green into the room, so cushions and ceramics you already own suddenly look deliberate. It also works at the far end of a hallway, where it gives you something to walk towards. Pair it with plain upholstery, warm wood and one or two glazed pots. Don’t crowd it with more pattern on the same wall, and skip busy wallpaper behind it. As a canvas it hangs frameless and flat, so the colour reads straight off the wall.
