Composition with the Yellow Half-Moon Canvas Print

Before anyone mentions Bauhaus, notice what the mustard yellow does to walnut. It picks up the warm grain and pulls it forward, so the wood stops reading as brown furniture and starts reading as part of the scheme. The near-black blocks do the opposite job: they give a pale wall an edge it did not have. Hang it above a sideboard, on a study wall behind a desk, or at the turn of a staircase where people slow down. Pair it with nubby wool, stoneware and a bit of dark metal.
