Red Green and Violet-Yellow Rhythms

Nothing in this high-key Bauhaus palette whispers, even when the living room does. Klee built this 1920 panel out of stacked oil-paint blocks oxblood, viridian, dusty rose, a few tiny fir trees pushing up between them and the colour does the talking from across the room. Put it up and the wall stops being a backdrop; the seating, the rug, the lamp all start answering to it. Hang it eye-level on a chalky off-white wall, above a low console or against a reading corner. Pair it with warm woods, raw linen, hand-thrown ceramics, a single bronze lamp. Don’t crowd it with other coloured prints this one wants to be the loudest thing in the room.
