Think of it as Ogino Issui with less reverence and better instincts. A single red rose, sage leaves and a brushy mauve ground a small, deliberate piece of early-1900s Japanese botanical printing brought into a modern room.

Put it on a wall and the room slows down a beat. The dusty mauve does most of the work, the red rose holds the eye, and the cream ground softens everything around it.
