Somewhere between Matisse and maximalist illustration, this cityscape refuses to behave. Red buses, tall pink and navy houses, a clock tower and a set of traffic lights all crowd into one portrait view, painted in thick, loose brushwork. Hang it and a quiet room gets a pulse: plain walls suddenly look intentional, and a bare corner turns into the bit people talk about. It works above a sofa, on a hallway wall, at the end of a landing, or in a kids’ room where the busy detail earns its keep. Keep the furnishings plain and let the colour lead. Avoid crowding it with patterned wallpaper or other loud pieces, and don’t bury it behind a tall plant or a lampshade.
