Curatorial Narrative In the early 20th century, Japanese art was experiencing a seismic shift, influenced by the rise of Western modernism and the confluence of traditional styles. Furuya Krin’s “Shin-Bijutsukai Pl.484” (1901-1902) exemplifies this transition, as he navigates the tension between linear brushwork and figurative representation.
