In the 1920s, this would have felt radical. It still does. Vilhelm Lundstrm’s hard-edged blocks of cobalt, white and orange landed somewhere between Czanne and Bauhaus and the quiet authority hasn’t softened in a century. Hang it in a living room and the cobalt deepens every warm material around it: walnut grows richer, brass reads heavier, cream linen reads softer. It wants a generous patch of wall above a low sideboard, behind a reading chair, or anchoring a chalky off-white wall in late afternoon light. Pair with sculptural ceramics, a single stoneware lamp, and unfussy timber. Don’t crowd it with florals or busy pattern; the geometry needs room to breathe.
